Getting an Emirates ID card

AL AIN EXPAT – How to get an Emirates ID card

All UAE residents must have an Emirates ID card. This card will be asked for to conduct business with many government departments, banks and even when checking into hotels. It is the main proof of identification that residents of the UAE will need.

An Emirates ID card contains an electronic chip that stores vital information about the cardholder such as name, date of birth, nationality, marital status, photo, fingerprint data and electronic signature. This card is for UAE residents only.

Many government offices have made it mandatory to present an Emirates ID in order to access their services.

A cardholder must renew their Emirates ID card upon its expiry date or if their last one has been stolen or misplaced.
