School Enrollments

As expats, choosing a school for our children is an important and often daunting task. There are many international schools in Al Ain offering a range of curriculums and varied sporting and cultural opportunities to students. It is a good idea to visit a few schools, ask questions and compare to find the best fit. Once a decision has been made, the school will provide information regarding their application process. Most schools follow the same general admissions process which is outlined below.

General Admissions Process

  • Begin the application process by completing the application form and submit to the registration office at the school. There can also be a non-refundable application fee that the school may request, this needs to be paid when the application is submitted. If the application is successful, this fee be deducted from tuition fees. If candidates are applying for KG or 1st grade, they may be required to demonstrate readiness to enter this grade level.
  • At many schools, candidates are required to take a placement test which may include one or more of the following: reading, writing and mathematics. If the test performance meets the criteria for the grade level, then the applicate will proceed to the next step. If the test performance does not meet the desired criteria, then the school may opt to place them in a lower grade or deny admittance.
  • The admissions department will then look at the application and consider the following: application form, placement test performance and previous school records.
  • The next step will be a personal interview with the administrator or teacher.
  • The admissions department will then communicate whether the candidate has been accepted or not and offer a place in the school.
  • The final step will be to submit all required admittance forms and tuition fees to the admissions department. The school will provide a checklist of the documentation required at this point.
